On St. Patricks Day, ActiveWin were toasting more than just the Patron Saint of Ireland as we headed to Manchester Airport to jet off to Fuerteventura.
Yes – you read that right. All 140 of us headed over to the Canaries for some well-earned fun in the sun. There aren’t many companies in the world that decide to pack their bags, book a couple of planes and whisk their entire office abroad for a four-day excursion. Then again, ActiveWin is not your typical digital agency.
We have many successes to celebrate this year, particularly our delight on jumping in our position into the top 20 of Prolific North’s Top 50 Digital Agencies (from 18th to 16th in the North and 4th in the digital hub of Manchester) as well exciting new account wins to shout about.
The ActiveWin Media annual holiday has been a tradition ever since our doors opened six years ago. Hard to imagine that from a team of three creating the affiliate marketing program ActiveWins, we have expanded services to include PPC, SEO, CRM, UX and display with well over one hundred staff and four floors in the Steam Packet House building in the heart of the city centre. The excursions are one of many perks of being part of our digital family, but this one comes very high up in the ranks for many of us. From the sunny shores of Tenerife to hopping onboard pirate ships in the beautiful location of Algarve, we have touched down and left our mark (in one way or another) in many different countries.
A Well-Earned Sunbathe
ActiveWin is a company who values every employee. Our MD Warren Jacobs’ believes, as do we all, that if people do great work, they should receive great rewards.
The company continues to grow exponentially, as our leadership team continues to find ways to show appreciation for hard graft. Even some newbies who had started only a few weeks before on the trip, so it was a top-quality opportunity to get to know the team.
Leisure With a Hint of Business
Setting off from Manchester, the whole crew were in high spirits and the desire to get maximum tan within four days meant that sun-cream ceased to exist in anyone’s mind’s and within about three hours, the sunburns started to show.
Very soon after, we were ditching the paella for the microphone, as we took over a local karaoke bar (apologies to the locals and other tourists who were subjected to our warbling). There were plenty of mingling among the staff, from content writers hopping onstage to sing with CRM executives, and our PPC experts enjoying volleyball alongside graphic designers.
On day two, we hit the beach in the morning for some activities led by our digital managers. In the afternoon we headed to what might have been the fanciest hotel on the island for some business updates from our directors, who shared news of successes and development from every team within the business; morale in the camp was high.
We apologise to the holidaymakers who were looking for a calm and relaxing getaway, a quiet drink in the bar, or even some karaoke with a small crowd. Some of them did end up joining in when we hit the karaoke again on the last night. They sang Oasis to a full bar of ActiveWin, helping us to put Manchester on the map.
