We’re a brave bunch at ActiveWin Media Ltd, and we like nothing more than taking on new challenges, whether it’s embracing new joint ventures, launching digital media campaigns for new brands or a taking part in charity dance contest!
Earlier this year, ActiveWin Digital Marketing Manager Adam Jackson set himself a target of raising £1,000 for charity in 2017, and had signed up for the annual Maccabi’s Strictly dance competition, as part of his pledge.
Adam actually accomplished his goal back in May, when he was one of eight ActiveWin Media employees to tackle The Great Manchester Run for The SMA Trust.
However, he’s a man of his word, so, for the last six weeks, he’s been juggling SEO content management and social media marketing with learning the Jive.
Last night Adam brought the house down, walking away with the People’s Champion award for his energetic performance.
Partnered by Beth Williams from Topaz Dance, Adam impressed the judges with his quick feet and cool moves to Greased Lightning. Personal trainer Jude Moryoussef was crowned the overall winner, but it was Mr Jackson who won over the live audience, topping the text vote.
Adam, who is more at home on the football pitch than the dancefloor, said that he wanted to push himself and tackle a different kind of challenge.
“I think everyone should do something that pushes them out of their comfort zone, and this is way out of mine!” He said prior to the competition.
Collecting his glitterball trophy, Adam added: “It’s been fantastic, the support has been amazing and I’ve really enjoyed learning to dance. Beth has been brilliant and really patient with me, I loved it.”
The event, held at The Dancehouse theatre, was sponsored by Beaverbrooks and raised just under £5,000 and counting, via ticket sales, a raffle and the proceeds from the text vote.
